ABOUT US

Hey folks! My name is William "Will" Heath and I am the proud and humbled soul behind this wonderful company. I am the proud parent to two amazing children, proud son to a wonderful mother and father, brother in service to a host of people in the public safety world, and a dedicated brother in Christ to countless millions. Family is what we are all about!

One of the things that make me tick is that I feel extremely passionate about doing the right thing at all times regardless the situation. We have heard the home inspection horror stories that I too have experienced.  My experience with my first home inspector is one that ended up costing me several, several, several thousand dollars to mitigate because he falsified his report.

I never want to see anyone go through any situation as I and so many others have. For that reason and so many others, it is my promise that my team will strive to alleviate at least some of the stress caused by the home buying process. We feel strongly that we have an ethical and moral obligation to do right by people.

My background is simple. I am a Public Safety Professional with more than thirty-five years in the fire service as a firefighter, company officer, fire instructor, and Emergency Medical Technician, with also a background in codes enforcement. With all of the various experiences I've been afforded throughout my life, as well as within my humbling and phenomenal career, I have been able to integrate a great deal of that knowledge into the home inspection profession where I am able to assist in bringing about a positive "home buying" outcome. One of the largest reasons I chose to form Southern Charm Home Inspections, Inc. is so we can help in making peoples' dreams come true.

I am an ardent believer in and supporter of our Lord God, our country, family, friends, our military, our public safety, and of our teachers. I love everyone regardless of any differences, know no strangers, and strive to make everyone around me feel happy and welcome. It's what makes service to my clients what it is.

Our inspectors are fully licensed through the North Carolina Home Inspections Licensing Board (www.nchilb.com). Furthermore, our inspectors are designated in one or all of the following areas as Certified Master Inspector®, and/or Certified Professional Inspector®, and/or ASHI-Professional Certified Inspector. Our training consists of attendance of initial and/or continuing education training through either AHIT- American Home Inspection Training (www.AHIT.com), American Society of Home Inspectors (www.ASHI.org), or through InterNACHI—the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (www.NACHI.org)—which is the world's largest nonprofit association of residential and commercial property inspectors and provides education, training, certification, benefits, and support for its members. All Licensed Property Inspectors within North Carolina are required to successfully complete one of the most difficult licensure exams in the country, as well as within our industry. In addition, those inspectors who are designated as InterNACHI-Certified Master Inspectors®, InterNACHI-Certified Professional Inspectors®, and/or ASHI - Professional Certified Inspectors are required to further pass Inspector Exams for acceptance into these organizations, as well as being required to follow comprehensive Standards of Practice, abide by a strict Code of Ethics, and take accredited Continuing Education courses each year in order to maintain their licensing, as well as association membership in good standing.

Our staff has acquired and continues to acquire extensive home inspector education training through InterNACHI’s rigorous Initial and Continuing Education curriculums, which includes dozens of live classroom, in-person, online, and video training courses, written and conducted by experts in their field, which have received more than 1,400 accreditations by state and governmental agencies throughout North America.

In order to become certified, our staff was required to take inspection courses related to the interior and exterior of the home, including the common and major areas of concern for homebuyers, such as the foundation, heating and cooling, roof, plumbing, and electrical systems. But, as an added bonus, our staff that consists of only active or retired fire service professionals with vast knowledge backgrounds provide you a level of confidence you can definitely depend upon.

Here is the list of InterNACHI courses required for initial certification:

  • Safe Practices for the Home Inspector

  • 25 Standards Every Inspector Should Know

  • Residential Plumbing Overview for Inspectors

  • How to Perform Residential Electrical Inspections

  • How to Perform Roof Inspections

  • How to Inspect HVAC Systems

  • Structural Issues for Home Inspectors

  • How to Inspect the Exterior

  • How to Inspect the Attic, Insulation, Ventilation and Interior

  • How to Perform Deck Inspections

  • How to Inspect for Moisture Intrusion

  • How to Inspect Fireplaces, Stoves, and Chimneys

Although the State of North Carolina requires licensing of home inspectors, the certifications and Continuing Education required by InterNACHI serve as additional in-depth training for the certified inspector so that he can provide sufficient and accurate information regarding a home’s condition. Any further information you would like to obtain regarding certifications, licensing, or proof of insurance, please ask and you will be provided with any information we are able to provide.

One of the most unique aspects of what our inspectors possess (in addition to the wealth of experience and training), is the proven dedication and service to our communities within the fire service. Southern Charm Inspection Services, LLC only employs veteran members of the fire service who have a proven record of dedicated, positive, and well-regarded service.

All inspectors for our company are veteran fire service professionals with many years of proven service. Furthermore, each of our inspectors possesses a background in code enforcement as well. We are humble, yet proud of the service we have been blessed to provide our communities and strive to provide the same level of dedication, meticulousness, and service to our clients within the property inspections arena.
